Mark Brown, owner and CEO of Burger & Brown Engineering has announced his retirement from the company, effective June 6, 2023. Brown provided successful leadership and expansion in the areas of CNC and manual machining, automation, engineering and Smartflow proprietary products since joining the firm in 1994 as general manager. In 2002, he was named vice president.

The firm was founded in 1978 by Phil Burger. Burger Engineering, as it was named at the time, designed and built special equipment for manufacturers. It began building injection molds for plastics processors in the area in 1982. When Mark Brown became vice president, the company changed its name to Burger & Brown and shuttered mold-building operations, establishing high-speed micro-milling operations. An injection molding department was launched in 2004.

Brown's accomplishments include building and expanding the Grandview Missouri manufacturing facility and successfully navigating the economic downturn of 2008 and 2009. Throughout his career, Brown continuously guided new product introductions, nurturing a global product distribution network for Smartflow products, said the news release announcing his retirement.

Brown plans to devote his time going forward to supporting the family farm-to-table restaurant and microbrewery in Grandview, MO.

President and CEO Corey Brown will continue to lead the company.
